If you are looking for a mid-range smartphone with good performance and battery life, you might be interested in comparing the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 and the Realme Narzo 50 Pro. These two devices were released in 2022 and have similar features and prices. In this blog post, we will compare them based on their specifications, design, camera, and user experience, and give you our recommendation.

Specifications

The Redmi Note 12 and the Narzo 50 Pro have almost identical displays: both have 6.67-inch IPS LCD screens with Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. They also have similar batteries: both have 5000 mAh capacity and support fast charging. However, the Narzo 50 Pro has a slightly faster charging speed of 65W, compared to the Redmi Note 12's 33W.

The main difference between the two phones is the chipset. The Redmi Note 12 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, which is a new processor that supports 5G connectivity and has four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores. The Narzo 50 Pro, on the other hand, uses the MediaTek Dimensity 920, which also supports 5G but has two Cortex-A78 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. According to benchmarks, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 has a higher performance than the Dimensity 920 in both CPU and GPU tests.

Both phones have multiple variants of RAM and storage. The Redmi Note 12 comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. The Narzo 50 Pro has only one option of 8GB of RAM but two options of storage: 128GB or 256GB. Both phones have microSD card slots for expandable storage.

Design

The Redmi Note 12 and the Narzo 50 Pro have similar designs: both have plastic backs with glossy finishes and rectangular camera modules on the top left corner. They also have side-mounted fingerprint scanners and stereo speakers. However, there are some differences in the colors and dimensions. The Redmi Note 12 is available in three colors: black, blue, and white. The Narzo 50 Pro has two colors: black and silver. The Redmi Note 12 is slightly thinner (8.3 mm) and lighter (195 g) than the Narzo 50 Pro (8.8 mm and 205 g).

Camera

The Redmi Note 12 and the Narzo 50 Pro have similar camera setups: both have four rear cameras and one front camera. The main rear camera is a 64 MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and phase detection autofocus (PDAF). The other rear cameras are an 8 MP ultrawide lens, a 2 MP macro lens, and a 2 MP depth sensor. The front camera is a 16 MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.

Both phones can record videos up to 4K resolution at 30 frames per second (fps) with the main rear camera and up to Full HD resolution at 30 fps with the front camera. They also have features like HDR, panorama, night mode, portrait mode, slow motion, time-lapse, etc.

User Experience

The Redmi Note 12 and the Narzo 50 Pro run on Android 11 operating system with their own custom skins on top. The Redmi Note 12 has MIUI 13, which is Xiaomi's user interface that offers a lot of customization options, themes, gestures, etc. The Narzo 50 Pro has Realme UI 2.0, which is Realme's user interface that also has some customization features, modes, etc.

Both phones have dual SIM support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, infrared port, FM radio, USB Type-C port, etc. However, neither of them has a headphone jack or wireless charging.

Recommendation

The Redmi Note 12 and the Narzo 50 Pro are very similar phones that offer good value for money in the mid-range segment. They both have decent displays, batteries, cameras, and user interfaces. However, if we have to choose one over the other, we would recommend the Redmi Note

12 for its better performance, thinner design, and more color options. The only advantage that the Narzo

50 Pro has over the Redmi Note

12 is its faster charging speed,

but that might not be enough to justify its higher price.
